Five individuals have been indicted on federal charges in connection with the investigation into the death of actor Matthew Perry, according to an announcement made by the US Attorney’s Office on Thursday, August 15.
The autopsy results, released following Perry’s death on October 28, 2023, revealed that the actor succumbed to the “acute effects of ketamine.” Charged in relation to this incident are Perry’s personal assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, along with Jasveen Sangha (known as “the Ketamine Queen”), Mark Chavez, Salvador Plasencia, and Erik Fleming.
The charges stem from a detailed investigation into the circumstances surrounding Perry’s tragic passing, highlighting the legal implications and consequences for those allegedly involved in the events leading up to his death.
Perry, aged 54, had been utilizing ketamine therapy as part of his treatment for depression. In his 2022 memoir, “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing,” he disclosed that ketamine also provided relief from the “pain” stemming from his battles with addiction.
According to a report in The New York Times on Thursday, charges filed against the five individuals include conspiracy to distribute ketamine, distribution of ketamine resulting in death, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, and tampering with and falsifying records pertinent to a federal investigation.
